TAKING ACTION FOR ORGANIC ROSÉ WINE & NATURE

Caring for nature from ground to glass through our organic rosé wine, sustainability is deeply rooted in our vision at Château Galoupet, as the future of this terroir of Provence is our founding commitment. At Château Galoupet, we believe that sustainable wine and restoring our dialogue with nature are fundamental to creating and preserving a sanctuary for biodiversity, as well as to craft exceptional Côtes de Provence wines to inspire a new generation of winemakers and wine lovers. Beyond our eco-friendly wine, over the past several years, Château Galoupet has been buzzing with activity as local and international specialists in geology, oenology, regenerative viticulture, agroforestry, apiculture, biodiversity, landscape gardening and environmental infrastructure have been pooling their skills and ideas. Together, we have been analyzing the soils, the climate, the winds and the water resources, and taking inventory of every living species on the Estate and its sustainable vineyards. We are leaving no stone unturned to return Château Galoupet to its best natural state and carry it into the future.

A SANCTUARY FOR WILDLIFE

We have been working with two local organizations to identify all the species on the Côtes de Provence rosé Estate. The "Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels" is conducting an audit of all the biodiversity in the woodlands and the "Ligue pour la Protection des Oiseaux" is doing the same in the vineyard. Together, they have already identified 12 different kinds of bats, including some of the rarest in Europe. Thanks to these findings, we are taking appropriate action to allow this wildlife to flourish and measure the positive impact of our actions over time. The sustainable wine Estate is becoming once again a haven for migrating birds and home to hundreds of reptiles and insects.
Bees are the heart of any sustainable ecosystem. With the OFA, we are not only creating new beehives, but we have also installed a bee fertilization station that will help repopulate the pollinator populations and provide us with valuable insights to help support their development.

A PALACE FOR THE BEES

Our eco-friendly winery operations involve partnership with the "Observatoire Français d'Apidologie" which began in 2019 with the installation of 200 beehives across our protected woodland. The results were so promising that we decided to create a nursery for our bees. It functions as a breeding center for bees born on site beside our sustainable vineyards. They will give birth to bee colonies that will feed on our flora, promoting the development of local biodiversity. Recent research shows how indigenous plants and pollinators like bats, butterflies and bees can help to preserve the balance of fragile ecosystems, and how thriving ecosystems can create more complex and beautiful wines. At Château Galoupet, we will be running studies to measure the impact of bees on soil revitalization and tasting the difference in our Côtes de Provence rosé wines.

SUPPORTING LOCAL GROWERS

Our vision for organic rosé wine stretches beyond the boundaries of the Estate. We support neighboring winegrowers who are practicing sustainable viticulture and organic winemaking processes to produce grapes of the highest quality. In the coming years, we aim to (re)craft a new sustainable wine, coming from organic grapes sourced from local growers and cooperatives in the Côtes de Provence appellation. We are an ever-growing community with shared values that will together elevate Côtes de Provence wines by working in harmony with nature at our eco-friendly winery.
