SHOULD ROSÉ WINE BE CHILLED? THE ROSÉ DEBATE

Rosé wines from the Côte de Provence appellation are renowned for their freshness and are best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and 12°C. For Château Galoupet's Cru Classé Rosé cuvée, we recommend serving it at around 10°C. To achieve this, place the bottle in the refrigerator for 2 to 4 hours. Alternatively, you can chill it quickly by submerging it in a bucket filled with ice and water for 15 to 20 minutes. During warmer seasons, when rosé warms up quickly, keep it at the ideal temperature by placing the bottle in an ice bucket (without fully submerging it) during the meal. Like many fine wines, rosé gradually reveals its full aromatic richness after a few minutes in the glass, allowing its bouquet to blossom fully.

Remember, if you’re wondering how to drink a Côtes de Provence rosé wine, one thing is certain: if it’s too cold, it hides its delicate aromas, making it taste flat. Too warm, it loses freshness, becoming heavy and unbalanced. Serve it at around 10°C to fully enjoy its fruity, floral notes.

HOW LONG DOES ROSÉ WINE LAST?

Several factors influence the aging potential of rosé, such as the appellation, vintage, production methods, storage conditions, and the quality of the wine. Most rosés are enjoyed young, typically within a year or two of production. However, age-worthy rosés, such as Château Galoupet’s Cru Classé Rosé, have an aging potential that allows them to be kept for 4 to 5 years under suitable conditions. An age-worthy rosé can age well in a cellar at a temperature between 10 and 14°C. Ideally, store the bottle in a dark, slightly humid, vibration-free, and well-ventilated room, or directly in a refrigerated wine cellar. Place it on its side to keep the cork in contact with the wine, thus preventing it from drying out and reducing oxidation. After opening, consume the rosé within 4 to 5 days to preserve its aromatic bouquet. To extend its preservation under optimal conditions after opening, the Coravin system can be used, allowing wine to be poured while injecting gas into the bottle, thus preserving the wine from oxidation and enabling it to be kept for several weeks.
